Connecting Authorize.net and accepting payments
Gateway credentials, accepted methods, surcharges and taxes.
Connect your gateway
- In your Authorize.net account, open Account → API Credentials & Keys.
- Copy the API Login ID, generate a Transaction Key, and create a Public Client Key.
- Paste them in Settings → Payments and click Save & verify. Use sandbox keys with Test mode first.
Why integrated payments
Card and ACH payments post to the right invoice automatically, power autopay and cut late accounts. ACH has the lowest processing cost.
Surcharges
Optional and state-dependent. Card networks forbid surcharging debit cards and require advance registration. Check with your attorney before enabling.
Identity check first
Online payments can only be connected and processed once your account owner has verified their identity (how it works). Until then you can configure methods, taxes and fees, and record cash, check and card-terminal payments.
